Reepham Insulation Project
Project Description
In the Carbon Survey carried out in Reepham a few years ago it was identified that only 8% of homes in Reepham are adequately insulated. The Reepham Insulation Project (RIP) was originally set up in 2008 to tackle this issue, by bringing all of the information, suppliers and community together to make it easy for people to insulate their home, save money and reduce carbon emissions.
Benefits
We have already seen another 10% of homes insulated and we expect to go even further with more RIP events. We will also use the same format of events to tackle other carbon reduction measures and technologies.
Implementation
We implemented the project by:
1. Identifying local suppliers of home insulation and negotiating a discount on their services for Reepham residents
2. Cutting through any unnecessary red tape to make it as easy as possible for residents to access grants available
3. Getting respected local people within the community to provide information to residents, rather than initiatives being imposed by government, local authorities or external agencies.
